Maple Barbecued Spareribs

3 pounds spareribs
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
3/4 cup pure maple syrup
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon tomato catsup
1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon finely chopped onion

Simmer spareribs in water in a shallow pan for 30 minutes, drain. Combine the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Pour half the mixture on the ribs and cook for 30 minutes in a 350 degree oven, turning and basting frequently with the remaining sauce. Finish off under the broiler until brown.
